Miss Meadows' Best Book Pick... "The Giving Tree"

The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein is about a little boy and his friendship with a tree.  The tree spends its whole life trying to make the boy happy by playing with him and giving him the things he needs, such as apples and wood.  Even though the boy wanders far away during his life, in the end, they find each other again and are happy.  I recommend this book because it demonstrates selflessness and the power of people and love over material possessions.
